Microsoft has publically released a couple of technical previews for System Center Configuration Manager (SCCM) 2016, and we now have a pretty good idea of how the final product will shape up.
I've gone through and removed all update schedules from our collections (yes - it was a lengthy monotonous task) and all is well.
Updated: May 14, 2015Applies To: System Center 2012 Configuration Manager, System Center 2012 Configuration Manager SP1, System Center 2012 Configuration Manager SP2, System Center 2012 R2 Configuration Manager, System Center 2012 R2 Configuration Manager SP1When you enable the Use incremental updates for this collection option, this configuration might cause evaluation delays when you enable it for many collections.
Instead, copy and paste the collection, and then modify the new collection.
This practice helps to troubleshoot collection queries and safeguards against the possibility that future upgrades might overwrite and change the built-in collections.
Technically I suppose it is on the one product in SC 2016 which doesnt have a year in its name. The build 1606 is called System Center Configuration Manager (Current Branch) 1606.
There were some issues so it's now been moved to pre-release status.Your first question is probably “When will SCCM 2016 be released?” Microsoft is promising a release date during the fourth quarter of this year.If you configure the maintenance window to be too small, the client might not be able to install critical software updates, which leaves the client vulnerable to the attack that is mitigated by the software update. In Microsoft System Center Configuration Manager 2016 (Build 1606), there is a pre-release feature for collections called Server Groups which allows for cluster aware updating. These are the ramblings of a 30 something (going on 60) year old disgruntled IT Professional.
